Diversity Q & A

Does your culture or religion influence the way you feel about food?

Haisam

Islam teaches me that food is an important part of life and that I should be grateful for the food that I have as well as thinking of those who may not be lucky enough to enjoy similar food to mine.  Another important teaching is that food is never to be wasted and that I should only eat as much as I need.  There are also some rules about the types of food Muslims can eat.  Any meat a Muslim eats must be 'Halal' (allowed), which includes not eating pig meat or the meat of predatory animals such as lions and eagles.
