Part A: Open the Citizenship Files
Welcome to the Citizenship Files! In this activity you will re-open some cases from the past and rate the government of the day on its actions.
Children born to one or more Australian parents can claim Australian Citizenship. Others can apply for citizenship if they meet the criteria set by the Australian Government. Citizens of Australia are granted certain rights but these rights come with certain responsibilities.
Explore each of the five Citizenship Files on the following pages. Re-open the case, analyse the primary and secondary sources provided, and give your opinion on the Government's actions.
Note: Some of the views and language expressed in these sources is discriminatory and considered inapproprite today.
